I think this is a very good idea and more cities should adopt this program. Let’s keep our purchases (online from private parties) safe for everyone. Here’s the article.
The Irwindale Police Department is introducing a new program called “E-Commerce and Child Exchange Safe Zone” to safely carry out exchanges from previous online transactions that require physical encounters. The Safe Zone will also be a place for parties to exchange their child and or children more safely. Transactions that start online but must be completed in person have become more common in recent years and most times the parties are strangers. E-commerce sales were estimated at $341.7 billion in 2015, up 14.6 percent from the year before.
The E-Commerce Safe Zone will consist of two designated parking stalls in front of the Irwindale Police Station. The parking stalls will be designated by signage and a painted green curb, where parties can finalize their e-commerce transactions with less concern of being robbed, scammed, seriously injured, and or killed.
The designated parking zone will be under 24 hour video surveillance by the Irwindale Police Department and will be located on the access road directly in front of the entrance to the Irwindale Police Department. The Irwindale Police Department hopes to instill a greater feeling of safety for its residents and business community by designating this Safe Zone. For any questions regarding this new program, please contact Sgt. Fraijo.
